League One team A swift takeover is required in reading.
The time for Dai Yongge has to end. The Royals failed to add anyone this summer and, should they suffer any more injuries, could find themselves suffering for much of the 2024–2025 season.
Ruben Selles has to add depth to several positions before the summer transfer window ends, especially at left-back, where Andre Garcia is playing admirably after taking Jeriel Dorsett’s place on Saturday.
Despite the Berkshire team’s recent four-point victory over Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City, more choices could still be beneficial for the center-back, central midfield, flank, and striker positions.

Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire’s Tim Dellor on Saturday, Couhig pretty much confirmed the Reading Chronicle’s report that a takeover was expected to occur during the early stages of this week, should everything go according to plan. Couhig also revealed that the sale should be announced today or tomorrow. Bloomberg reported that Couhig is nearing a £30m takeover of the third-tier side, which was encouraging news.
Palmer talked about the Reading FC takeover scenario and how it will affect Ruben Selles’ team.
Couhig claimed to be waiting for approval from the “other side” after overcome all obstacles on his end.
It’s unclear if he was referring to the EFL or the club’s current owner, Dai Yongge, but it appears like a sale is about to happen, which is great news for a team that needs off-field stability and signings as soon as possible.
