Sky sports pundit, Chris Sutton, has taken a dig at the SFA, John Beaton and Don Robertson’s handling of a controversial incident involving Celtic player Yang earlier in the season.
Yang was sent off for a high boot during the incident, which happened during a game against Hearts at Tynecastle. A VAR panel later affirmed the verdict during its quarterly review.
Compare this to a same event that occurred in the English Premier League involving Liverpool defender Joe Gomez and Brennan Johnson, where Gomez engaged in a similar high boot situation without receiving a penalty. After reviewing the Gomez incident, VAR determined that there was no foul, which Sutton cited as an example of the English game officials using “common sense.”
