Brendan Rodgers admitted he cannot allow Celtic to “snooze” during the summer transfer window.
The manager has only signed two goalkeepers to this point for the club which, it must be said, was a necessity with Joe Hart retiring at the end of last season. Punters, though – if social media is anything to go by – have been frustrated with a slower than usual window and a lack of new faces in the door with just four weeks or so until the market closes until January.
Rodgers knows he and his recruitment staff have work to do but there’s one man who is close to joining the band permanently having played on loan last term.
Paulo Bernardo
The Portuguese is closing in on his move after having a £3million deal agreed with Benfica. His salary demands were keeping him from agreeing but that has now been concluded. Had his medical to join the Hoops and is imminent.
Adam Idah
Missed his flight to join the Norwich squad in Austria and manager Johannes Hoff Thorup reckons the media circus around him and the Celtic interest played a part. He is still wanted by the Canaries boss who is not looking to sell but sources close to the situation believe the Irishman could yet be a Celtic player before the window closes.
