Kieran Wright, a backup goalkeeper for Rangers, has signed a season-long loan deal with Airdrie, the Scottish team announced on July 5.
The 25-year-old has not yet made his professional Gers debut, but his time on loan at Dumbarton, Partick Thistle, and Albion Rovers has given him a wealth of experience.
Airdrie is scheduled to return from Belfast on Friday, July 5, and will be back with the team the following week.
Kieran Wright should have been sold by Rangers for a transfer fee.
Wright was never even close to making his senior debut, even if he may have previously joined first team training.
Having not made his senior appearance since 2016, the 25-year-old should have been sold by the club for a transfer fee rather than being sent out on loan once more.
He is no longer a young prospect at that age and has experienced several loan stints with lower-tier clubs without emerging victorious.
There is very little possibility that he will make the Gers first squad.
Rangers would have been able to recover part of their investment in his development over the years if they had sold him.
It would have also opened up a space in the roster, maybe enabling the team to spend money on a younger, more promising goalie.
Loaning him out again only delays the inevitable and does not provide a long-term solution for the player or the club.
