Fulham plot to beat Liverpool and Crystal Palace to £50m statement double swoop

Fulham are planning to reinvest the funds acquired from Joao Palhinha’s departure this summer, aiming to bolster their midfield significantly with a double transfer swoop exceeding £50 million.

Following Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich, Fulham are urgently seeking to strengthen their midfield options under manager Marco Silva. Reports from The Evening Standard indicate that the club’s primary targets are now clear.

Firstly, Fulham is actively pursuing Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense, a player they have been tracking for some time. The departure of Palhinha has heightened the urgency to finalize this deal, which is expected to cost around £25 million. Negotiations with Andre’s representatives are ongoing, with Fulham poised to secure his signature ahead of competing interest from Liverpool, who had also been linked previously.

Additionally, Fulham aims to bring in Emile Smith-Rowe from Arsenal, another familiar face for Silva’s midfield. Despite having an initial £25 million bid turned down by Arsenal, Fulham is anticipated to return with an improved offer to secure the 23-year-old’s services.

The impending transfers mark a proactive approach by Fulham to replenish and strengthen their squad following Palhinha’s departure, aiming to reinforce their midfield significantly ahead of the upcoming season.

Emile Smith-Rowe is a Fulham transfer target.

If Fulham’s pursuit of Emile Smith-Rowe fails, and considering Crystal Palace’s interest in the player, Fulham might consider alternative midfield options. One potential target could be Manchester United’s Scott McTominay or Luton Town midfielder Teden Mengi.

Scott McTominay has also been linked with a move to West Ham, although there are conflicting reports suggesting that West Ham’s interest may stem from a previous bid under David Moyes, rather than current active pursuit.

Fulham’s contingency plans include exploring these alternatives should their efforts to secure Smith-Rowe’s signature not come to fruition, indicating their strategic approach to reinforce their midfield regardless of potential setbacks in their primary transfer targets.
