Rangers Make Decision On Championship Star After Bid Rejected

Following the rejection of a bid earlier this week for Plymouth Argyle attacker Morgan Whittaker, Scottish powerhouse Rangers are getting ready to make another offer, according to Football Insider.

The 23-year-old, who arrived on a season-long loan from Swansea City, was instrumental in the Pilgrims’ victory in League One during the 2022–15 season. This was sufficient to persuade Plymouth to pay a club record £1 million in order to acquire the player permanently last summer, when he signed a four-year contract.

Whittaker performed admirably even though the team was fighting relegation in their first season back in the Championship. His squad just avoided elimination with his 19 league goals.

The former Lincoln City loanee attracted attention in January thanks to this form. After Lazio, a Serie A team, had their approaches rejected, director of football Neil Dewsnip took to the public eye to discuss the matter:

“Lazio made us an official bid for Morgan last night. Following internal discussion and consultation with the player’s representation, the offer was promptly turned down. We continue to emphasize that Morgan is not for sale and that he is quite happy at Argyle.

In the next weeks, the Italians might make a comeback, although the winger has also been connected to Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stuttgart, and Celta Vigo. Rangers, though, have taken the initiative.

The Daily Record reports that Plymouth has turned down their initial offer, which was for well than £7 million with add-ons. Manager Philippe Clement is unwavering in his belief that Whittaker is a player he wants to bring to Ibrox despite the setback. Football Insider claims that a fresh bid is therefore being readied.

In an attempt to start a new campaign for the Scottish Premiership, the Gers are anxious to bolster their forward line this summer. The previous season, they came in second place behind fierce rivals Celtic, with right-back James Tavernier leading the way in scoring.

Tommy Conway of Bristol City is also being pursued; he was just dropped to the Robins’ under-21 squad. The Scottish international, who is approaching the end of his current deal at Ashton Gate, is rumored to have turned down two offers of new terms.

In the past, Wayne Rooney has expressed his wish to keep Whittaker at Home Park. As he attempts to lead the team to a more comfortable Championship campaign, he views the former Swansea City player as an essential member of his team. He has demonstrated that he is fully expected to remain at the club for the start of the new season by starting this afternoon’s friendly against Cheltenham Town.

Plymouth has no cause to change their £15 million assessment, and they have stood firm on it. They are in a really strong position because the player appears content where he is and has three years left on his present contract. Nevertheless, this is going to continue for the duration of the transfer window.
