Michel-Ange Balikwisha’s hopes of a summer move have been nearly extinguished over the weekend.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has been closely monitoring the potential transfer, reported that Balikwisha has sustained an injury that is more severe than initially thought. This setback could keep the Royal Antwerp winger out of action for an extended period, significantly reducing the chances of a summer move to Celtic.
Despite the excitement and a direct phone call between Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and Balikwisha, negotiations were already challenging due to Antwerp’s high asking price for the player.
With the new concerns about Balikwisha’s fitness, coupled with the hefty financial demands, the likelihood of this transfer going through has greatly diminished. Tavolieri’s update on the injury adds further complexity, making it less likely that Celtic will pursue this signing during the summer.
