Brendan Rodgers has shared his thoughts on Callum McGregor’s decision to retire from international football, a move that the Celtic captain announced on Friday morning.
McGregor, who played in this summer’s competition in Germany, has 63 caps for Scotland and scored a spectacular goal at the Euros in 2021. Even if the national team was unable to progress past the group stages, McGregor’s performance was nonetheless excellent.
With two years until the next competition, which would take place when McGregor would be 33, and the World Cup qualifiers just around the corner, McGregor, at 31, has chosen to focus on his role at Celtic, where he continues to lead as team captain.
