Derby is set to sign goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Djurgardens, with the keeper expected to play his final match for the club in the Europa Conference League on Thursday. Warne is also hoping to add a striker and a defender before the transfer window closes in two weeks.

Speaking before Derby’s match against Middlesbrough, Warne shared his frustrations with BBC Radio Derby. He noted that competition for top forwards is fierce, with many clubs targeting the same few players. Warne admitted that the process feels like a game of “who can lie the best,” something he’s not willing to engage in. He is pleased with early signings like Jerry Yates and Kayden Jackson but acknowledges that finding top-line forwards remains challenging.

Warne indicated that there may be progress on midfield and defensive targets in the coming days, though the search for a goalkeeper continues. His recent attempts have faced setbacks, including two rejections for players this week. Warne acknowledged that while rejection is part of the process, it reflects the tough competition for top talent.

Derby County needs to add more depth and quality to stay competitive in the Championship. Despite the setbacks, Warne aims to make sensible decisions within the financial and recruitment constraints, hoping to uncover valuable players before the window closes.
