Portsmouth boss fires warning to players after failing to break down 10-man Luton Town

John Mousinho urged Portsmouth to sharpen their attacking edge if they want to succeed in the Championship. The Blues manager expressed his frustration after a goalless draw against 10-man Luton at Fratton Park, marking the club’s return to second-tier football after 12 years.

Mousinho highlighted the need for better decision-making in the final third, especially after Luton’s goalkeeper, Thomas Kaminski, was sent off, leaving them with 10 players for over an hour. He praised his team’s strong first-half performance, noting their ability to exploit spaces and create threats. However, he acknowledged that in the second half, despite controlling possession and creating opportunities, they lacked the quality and execution to break down Luton’s compact defense.

Mousinho also mentioned that while they defended well, the team needs to improve in converting opportunities into clear chances. He emphasized the importance of building on this performance for the next game, acknowledging the disappointment of not securing all three points.
