Who is behind Reading FC’s takeover bid?

Rob Couhig is a prominent figure in the takeover and was seen at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday, alongside US businessman Todd Trosclair, who also attended the game against Wigan. Both Couhig and Trosclair are directors at Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd, the company expected to acquire the Royals.

While Couhig and Trosclair have suggested on social media that they will play significant roles in Berkshire, Alec Lundberg’s role remains unclear. Lundberg, who is married to Couhig’s goddaughter, is the third director at Redwood.

Leo Rifkind has resigned from the company. Rifkind was thought to be a key figure in Chiron Sports Group’s bid to buy the club, but it is uncertain if they are still involved.

Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire’s Tim Dellor on Saturday, Couhig pretty much confirmed the Reading Chronicle’s report that a takeover was expected to occur during the early stages of this week, should everything go according to plan. Couhig also revealed that the sale should be announced today or tomorrow. Bloomberg reported that Couhig is nearing a £30m takeover of the third-tier side, which was encouraging news.Ruben Selles

It’s unclear if he was referring to the EFL or the club’s current owner, Dai Yongge, but it appears like a sale is about to happen, which is great news for a team that needs off-field stability and signings as soon as possible.
