Southampton are actively seeking to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. Despite a busy transfer window that has seen them add 11 new players since their Premier League return, they are still in need of a reliable goalkeeper to challenge Alex McCarthy for the number one spot.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Southampton are currently in discussions to acquire Dutch goalkeeper Justin Bijlow. The 26-year-old Feyenoord shot-stopper is a top target for the Saints, and Bijlow himself is interested in the move.

Romano mentioned on X: “Southampton are in talks to sign Feyenoord GK Justin Bijlow, with negotiations underway today. Bijlow is eager for the move, and he’s a key target for Southampton as they seek a new goalkeeper.”

Polish goalkeeper Mat Lis is anticipated to return to Sport Republic sister club Göztepe, which could pave the way for another goalkeeper to join Southampton.

Dutch goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, who made 17 league appearances for Feyenoord during the 2023/24 season, is on Southampton’s radar. Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie behind PSV Eindhoven last season. Bijlow was previously a key player under current Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and has caught the attention of several Liverpool scouts. He has made 143 appearances for Feyenoord, conceding 151 goals and keeping 54 clean sheets, despite dealing with two injuries last season.

Bijlow has also earned eight caps for the Netherlands and Southampton are working to secure his transfer. Additionally, the Saints are interested in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and are looking to strengthen their forward line, with in-demand Gent forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo being linked with a move to St Mary’s.
