Blackburn are keen on Cesena winger Augustus Kargbo after his impressive form in Italian football over the past few years.

The 25-year-old was a key player for Cesena as they won promotion to Serie B last season, and he has enjoyed a positive start to life in the second tier so far, with Kargbo recording two goal contributions in four games.

His performances have certainly attracted attention, as The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Blackburn Rovers are keeping a close eye on Augustus Kargbo ahead of the January transfer window.

Augustus Kargbo Transfer Latest

According to the update, Cesena is expected to sell their star forward in the New Year, with the club seeking a fee exceeding £1 million. It’s believed that John Eustace is eager to bolster his attacking options when the window reopens, and Kargbo is seen as a player who could bring a different dimension to the squad with his unique qualities.

Rovers had been monitoring Augustus Kargbo over the summer, but a move couldn’t materialize. Nevertheless, the recruitment team at Ewood Park is well-acquainted with the player.

### Augustus Kargbo’s Career So Far

Kargbo has spent his entire career in Italy, beginning with the fourth division side Campobasso before securing a move to Crotone, who were playing in Serie B at the time. Over the next five years, he made 70 appearances for Crotone, including loan stints at Roccella and Reggiana. In 2023, Kargbo joined Cesena, where he has truly thrived.

Internationally, Kargbo has been recognized by Sierra Leone, earning 17 caps and scoring four goals since making his debut three years ago. If he were to move to Blackburn, it would mark his first opportunity to play in English football. However, with his experience in Italy and on the international stage, Kargbo would likely feel confident in his ability to step up to the demands of English football at this point in his career.

Blackburn’s Positive Start to the Season

Despite some initial negativity surrounding Blackburn at the start of the season, the first four games have provided plenty of reasons for optimism. The funds given to manager John Eustace appear to have been well-invested, with several new signings already making an immediate impact. And there’s still more to look forward to, with the likes of Todd Cantwell and Amario Cozier-Duberry yet to make their debuts.

It will be an intriguing few months ahead for Blackburn as we watch how they manage a busy schedule and whether they can maintain their strong form. There’s also the question of whether they really need Kargbo, given the existing talent and variety in the squad.

Eustace’s team has made a solid start, collecting eight points from their first four games and remaining unbeaten. This includes a hard-fought draw against fierce rivals Burnley in their last match, despite being down to ten men.

Rovers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Bristol City at Ewood Park.
