Exclusive: FIVE KEY POINTS FROM IAN GORDON UPDATE

We’ve highlighted five key takeaways from our Executive Director’s recent interview with Hibs TV!

Ian Gordon shared insights on a range of topics, including lessons learned, his dedication to the club, signs of progress, and what Hibs fans can expect moving forward.

Here are five standout quotes from the interview:

**Ian Gordon’s Role With The Club**

“In the past, I was mainly involved in the recruitment process, presenting player options to the Manager who made the final decisions. Looking back, I realize that approach wasn’t ideal, and we’ve learned from it.

“Currently, as Executive Director, I support Ben and Malky, with Ben managing the business side and Malky handling the football side. I’m here to assist them in any way possible.

“Over the past 18 months, my focus has been on observing various aspects of the Club to identify areas for improvement and working on our five-year plan.”

**Black Knight Relationship & Investment**

“The Black Knight Group played a crucial role in hiring the Sporting Director and Head Coach. Ultimately, we felt that Malky and Dave’s expertise in Scottish football was key, and that’s why we chose them.

“We maintain regular communication with the Black Knight Group. With their new president, Tim Bezbatchenko, we are building a promising partnership. While it’s still early, we are confident in its direction.

“The Black Knight investment has been allocated to specific areas, including the wage bill, commercial expansion, the Famous Five Stand improvements, Rail Seating, HTC upgrades, and growth in the Academy and Women’s team.

“We’ve also increased the wage bill and made a significant financial commitment to Kieron Bowie. We are ready to invest further for the right players in the future, even though it didn’t materialize this summer.”

**Club Finances & Family Commitment**

“We are currently overspending due to recent changes, but my family is fully committed to supporting the Club financially during this period.

“We believe that once we achieve footballing success, our strong business position will support continued progress.

“To clarify, the family is prepared to cover any overspend on the football side, and we are comfortable with this arrangement for now.”

**Commercial Growth & Infrastructure Improvements**

“Since my family acquired the Club, we’ve seen significant growth, with commercial revenue up by over 80% and partnerships increasing by over 400%.

“We’ve made major improvements in hospitality and revamped the West Stand, introduced ‘Behind The Goals,’ and installed Rail Seating in the Famous Five Stand. These projects are a point of pride for us, particularly for my dad.

“However, we acknowledge that the football side hasn’t met expectations. Going forward, we need to focus more on improving football performance.”

**Looking Ahead…**

“We’re nearing the end of my dad’s original five-year plan. At the next AGM, my family will present a new five-year plan outlining our future direction.

“We aim to finish in the top four, compete for cups, and play European football regularly. Although the journey has been challenging, we’ve learned a lot and are confident about our future direction with the current structure.”
