Preston North End midfielder Stefan Thordarson missed training on Thursday due to illness, but manager Paul Heckingbottom expects him to be available for Saturday’s match against Middlesbrough. The rest of the squad, including Ali McCann, Milutin Osmajic, and Robbie Brady, also returned from international duty in good condition. Heckingbottom expressed his satisfaction with having his players back and reported that everyone should be fit and available for the trip to the Riverside Stadium.

Heckingbottom also mentioned that forward Layton Stewart, who struggled with injury during pre-season, was absent from Tuesday’s Central League Cup match against Stoke City. Although Stewart is working to regain fitness, he wasn’t quite ready for the game. Heckingbottom emphasized the importance of keeping all players on a consistent training program to ensure they are prepared when called upon.
