Exclusive: Plymouth Argyle agree deal to sign another player…

Plymouth Argyle have secured a deal to sign former Coventry and Shrewsbury goalkeeper Marko Marosi on a free transfer, according to sources. The 30-year-old will join Argyle on a short-term contract.

Marosi, who became a free agent after leaving Shrewsbury in June, will provide much-needed depth to Plymouth’s goalkeeping ranks. The Pilgrims’ current options are limited due to Conor Hazard’s recent ankle surgery. Daniel Grimshaw, the only fit goalkeeper available, is set to start against Championship leaders Sunderland on Saturday, September 14.

Marosi, a former Slovakia Under-21 international, has made 303 club appearances, keeping 80 clean sheets and conceding 382 goals. His previous stint in the Championship was with Coventry during the 2020-21 season, where he made 20 appearances and kept four clean sheets. Marosi also contributed to Coventry’s League One title win in the season before.

Marko Marosi will join Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle, who have had a challenging start to the new season, earning only two points from their first 12 available. Argyle will face Sunderland on Saturday, September 14, and then take on West Brom the following week on September 21.

In other news, Leeds United have received a significant boost regarding their striker situation.
