Hibernian’s new signing, Jack Iredale, is eyeing a potential debut against Rangers after joining the club on the final day of the transfer window. The 28-year-old defender moved from Bolton Wanderers, where he had been playing since 2022, marking a return to Scottish football for the first time since his spell with Morton ended in 2019.
Born in Scotland, Iredale began his career in Australia before making his way to the UK, where he has played for Carlisle United, Cambridge United, and Bolton. His last-minute move to Hibs was unexpected, but he embraced the opportunity. Speaking to *Hibs TV*, Iredale shared his excitement, saying, “Everyone has made me feel welcome, and I can’t wait to pull on the Hibs shirt for my first game.”
Recalling the hectic deadline day, Iredale explained that interest had waned earlier in the week, but a last-minute call from his agent prompted a swift journey to Edinburgh. “It was a no-brainer,” he said, describing the appeal of the club’s facilities, history, and fanbase.
Although Iredale wasn’t involved in Hibs’ recent 2-0 victory over St Johnstone, he is hopeful of returning to full training next week and targeting the Rangers match on September 29th for his debut. With Hibs currently on a break due to Premier Sports Cup matches, Iredale is eager to be ready when called upon.
