Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz will be given until the last possible minute to prove his fitness for the Celtic clash, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported in its print edition on 4 April, Page 78, that the rest of the defence picks itself with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and John Souttar set to start.
Borna Barisic will be starting at left-back should Yilmaz not be fit in time.
Yilmaz is needed for Rangers v Celtic
Yilmaz’s potential absence poses a significant concern for Philippe Clement ahead of the Celtic clash.
The 22-year-old has proven to be an integral part of Rangers’ defensive setup, offering solidity at the back while also contributing to the team’s attacking play with his pace and overlapping runs.
His defensive awareness and ability to read the game effectively provide crucial support to the likes of Tavernier, Goldson and Souttar.
While Barisic is a capable left-back, he lacks the dynamic presence and defensive reliability that Yilmaz brings to the team.
Barisic’s potential departure at the end of the season further underscores Yilmaz’s importance and it’s evident that Clement has already written off the Croatian.
