We are the GREATEST – Brendan Rodgers drops strong transfer hint

Brendan Rodgers has subtly hinted that Celtic’s recruitment strategy is just getting underway. Four players were signed in the final week of the transfer window, with two Deadline Day arrivals making an immediate impact by scoring in Saturday’s victory over Hearts.

Compared to last summer’s signings, both Arne Engels and Luke McCowan seem perfectly suited to slot into a midfield that already boasts a strong trio of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, and Paulo Bernardo.

Rodgers, who opted to delay early signings during the transfer window, appears satisfied with the quality of the players he’s working with, as reflected by the depth of his substitute bench in recent matches. With the transfer window now closed, Rodgers has already begun preparing for future windows, acknowledging that “there are still areas we want to improve on.”

When asked about how the current squad compares to previous teams he has led into the Champions League, Rodgers expressed confidence, stating:

“There’s no doubt this is the most prepared I’ve felt as Celtic manager heading into a Champions League campaign. Last season, we faced challenges with late signings due to the qualification phase, but having a year back at the club has allowed me to work with the players and make improvements. While there’s still work to be done, I feel the team is in the best position since I’ve been here.”

Auston Trusty and Alex Valle are yet to make their debuts, but they are expected to feature in Sunday’s League Cup match against Falkirk.
