Craig Moore has lauded Philippe Clement for his decision to substitute James Tavernier late on in the clash between Rangers and Dundee.
The Light Blues ran out 3-0 winners on Saturday (21 September) as they booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals thanks to a brace from Cyriel Dessers and a second-half penalty from the skipper.
With less than ten minutes remaining in the Glasgow match, Tavernier was substituted by Neraysho Kasanwirjo. The home crowd responded with a standing ovation, and Go Radio analyst Moore believes this could rekindle the 32-year-old’s enthusiasm. “I actually think it was a good move from the manager,” he stated in an interview with The Go Radio Football Show on September 23, 18:00. “I believe Tavernier is a player that bears the burden of a lot of things because he has gone through a lot of difficult periods as a captain.
However, he gave a strong performance; he scored again after receiving his penalty, and the supporters gave him a chance to get some love, which will undoubtedly give him a boost of confidence.

Tavernier has endured more criticism than any other Rangers player in recent memory, since most fans tend to become irate with the captain if the Light Blues lose.
