Replacement Deal: Pundit stunned as Leeds mentioned new manager to replace Farke

Pundit stunned as Leeds eye new manager to replace Farke

Former England international Carlton Palmer has weighed in on the speculation linking a “brilliant” manager with replacing Daniel Farke at Leeds United, calling the rumors “disrespectful.” Corberan has been linked to the Leeds job as pressure mounts on Farke, especially after a 3-3 draw at home against newly-promoted Portsmouth on the opening weekend, which left some fans unsettled.

However, despite the criticism, Leeds are currently sixth in the Championship, and given how early it is in the season, there is still plenty of time for them to climb higher in the table, especially considering they reached the playoff final last season.

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has reportedly emerged as a potential target for Leeds United, with the 41-year-old impressing at the Hawthorns. His Baggies currently sit atop the Championship table, having dropped just two points so far and looking like strong contenders for automatic promotion to the Premier League.Pundit Carlton Palmer has reacted to the Corberan-to-Leeds rumors, expressing surprise over the speculation. Speaking to *Football League World*, Palmer called the situation disrespectful to Daniel Farke, questioning why Leeds would consider replacing him:

“I think it’s disrespectful. Daniel Farke took them to the play-off final, and although people are disappointed they weren’t promoted, he had a lot of work to do and still got 90 points. If he delivers 90 points again this season, they’ll be promoted.

Why is there talk of him not being safe, and where is it coming from? Is this coming from Leeds or just the media? They’ve played six games, won three, drawn two, and only lost one. They’re on 11 points and just five behind West Brom. So, I find it incredible we’re even discussing this.”

This situation is indeed a tricky one, with valid arguments on both sides. Carlton Palmer makes some compelling points about the work Daniel Farke is doing at Leeds. While the start to the season hasn’t been flawless, sitting in sixth place with only one defeat shows that Farke is getting a lot right. Leeds are still in a strong position, especially considering it’s early in the campaign.

However, the counterargument is that perhaps another manager could be extracting even more from an undeniably talented squad. Carlos Corberan’s success at West Brom makes him a tempting prospect for Leeds, with his team sitting at the top of the table. His track record suggests he might be an upgrade on Farke.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman was full of praise for Corberan late last year, saying: “He’s doing a brilliant job as far as I’m concerned. West Brom are doing better than I expected. I had them somewhere between 8th and 12th, which may still be the case as they’re up against other decent teams. I think Carlos is doing a brilliant job.”

For now, Farke deserves more time to prove himself and maintain Leeds’ progress this season. However, should results decline in the coming weeks or months, Corberan could emerge as a strong replacement option, particularly if he contemplates leaving West Brom.
