David Gray has confirmed that Hibs will have key players returning from injury for their upcoming match against Rangers, and hopes their recent European tie in Malmo will offer insights for Sunday’s game. During the international break, Gray had an extended period to work with his squad, which helped them secure their first Premiership win of the season against St Johnstone. Although Joe Newell missed that match and Martin Boyle was dealing with a knock—despite scoring—Gray expects both to be available for the trip to Ibrox.
Gray told Sky Sports that they’ve remained consistent and focused on improving, despite some disappointing results. The break has been beneficial for injured players like Martin and Joe, and for integrating new signings like Dwight Gayle and Jack Iredale into the team.
Gayle, who joined Hibs earlier this month, will be ready as an attacking option, with Gray praising his professionalism and fitness. “Dwight is available for the weekend and in great condition,” Gray added, emphasizing his positive impact on the squad.
As Rangers face Malmo in their Europa League match, Gray is wishing them success but will also be analyzing the game to prepare for Sunday’s clash at Ibrox. He expects a tough test but remains optimistic, stating, “We’ll be watching the game closely to make sure we can go there and give ourselves the best chance.”
