Newcastle United set to seal major deal for 12-goal winger, beating out Liverpool and Arsenal.

Newcastle United are reportedly nearing a significant new deal with winger Anthony Gordon.

The 23-year-old, who was named Newcastle’s Player of the Season for 2023-24 after recording 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances, had an unsettled summer amid links to his boyhood club Liverpool. Gordon has found it challenging to replicate last season’s form in the first six matches of the new campaign.

Gordon has scored once in his opening six games for Newcastle this season.
Anthony Gordon has scored once in his first six games for Newcastle this season. In June, Newcastle entered talks with Liverpool over a potential sale of Gordon to address PSR issues. However, they managed to raise funds by selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, keeping Gordon on Tyneside.

The winger signed a “long-term” contract after his £45 million move from Everton in January 2023, but both the club and player are eager to agree on an improved deal. For Newcastle, it would secure one of their key players, while Gordon would receive a pay rise, placing him among the club’s top earners.

According to Mail Online, Newcastle are nearing an agreement with Gordon on a new contract, with confidence that final details will be settled soon. In addition to Liverpool, Arsenal have also shown interest in the England winger, while Chelsea have long admired him and previously tried to sign him during his Everton days.
