HEREFORD may be without several key players for weeks due to injury issues that have come to light.
Despite this, manager Paul Caddis has stated that he will not “rush” or “waste money” on acquiring replacements.
Following the team’s goalless draw with King’s Lynn Town, Caddis mentioned that he currently has 16 players available, though some are dealing with minor injuries.
With a trip to Bishop’s Stortford for the FA Cup third round qualifying this weekend, attracting loan players could be challenging, as they would become cup-tied.
“We now have 16 players available, and we do have the capacity to bring some in,” Caddis said. “I won’t rush or waste money, and we won’t make promises to clubs about guaranteed starts for players.”
Regarding the injured players, Caddis reported that Aaron Skinner may have a fracture in his ankle. The club is awaiting further tests to determine if surgery is needed, with an expected absence of at least four weeks.
Alex Babos will undergo a scan once the swelling from an “awkward impact fall” during Hereford’s victory against Ilkeston subsides. His return timeline remains unclear.
The club is concerned that young winger Preston Bitemo may have a stress fracture, and he is scheduled for a scan this week, which could result in an absence of up to 11 weeks.
Additionally, Jason Cowley has encountered a setback after returning to training, experiencing a “constant dull ache” in his ankle. He will be scanned again and referred to a specialist.
