Supporters of Huddersfield Town may legitimately argue that their team has gone through more highs and lows recently than the majority of their Football League rivals.
In 2017, the Terriers defeated Reading in the Championship play-off final on penalties, and as a result, they were promoted to the Premier League.
The West Yorkshire outfit, then coached by David Wagner, then achieved the unexpected feat of top-flight survival during a stunning 2017/18 campaign in which they finished in 16th and escaped the drop by four points.
But catastrophe would soon approach for the Terriers, who finished the 2018–19 season with just 16 points and were demoted from the Premier League back to the Championship.
Following back-to-back poor second-tier seasons, the Terriers nearly made a run at the top division in 2022 when they made it back to the play-off final.
However, the West Yorkshire team was demoted to League One at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season after losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on this occasion.
Aaron Mooy was one player who was instrumental in the Terriers’ ascent to the top division and who impressed throughout their Premier League tenure. Graeme stated to FLW: “Aaron Mooy was a pleasure to watch, and he’s the one guy I wish I had seen play for my club more than they did before they went.
“I genuinely can’t remember him ever having a poor game.
“He is without a doubt the most technically gifted player I have ever seen wearing a Town shirt. He also played the game correctly. It was amazing to watch how he controlled games and occasionally carried the team through subpar performances.
“He was always enthusiastic and proactive, and just a genuine, real pleasure to watch, and I was heartbroken that he went when he did, because I felt that we should have fought to keep him, but I totally understood his desire to stay in the top-flight.
“He had shown that he was a capable Premier League player, so I wished him well in Brighton and fair play.
Additionally, he handled it properly by signing a contract extension, which allowed us to obtain a respectable sum before he left, even though he had the option to move in a different direction.

Given that Mooy was a true Terriers hero in recent years, it seems sense that Graeme wishes he could have seen even more of him.
Prior to the 2016–17 Championship season, the former Australia international joined the West Yorkshire team on loan from Manchester City. He scored four goals and provided seven assists in the lower division as Wagner’s team advanced to the Premier League.

After the Terriers won promotion to the Premier League, Mooy made a permanent move to Huddersfield. In the 2017–18 season, he demonstrated his value in the Premier League with four goals and three assists.
During the 2018/19 campaign, which saw the Terriers relegated back to the Championship, Mooy managed just three goals and one assist, but still displayed his match-winning talents.
The brace that their club’s former midfielder scored in a 2-0 victory over Wolves in November 2018 will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Town supporters.
Like Graeme, a lot of Terriers fans will wish that Mooy could have lasted longer because of his illustrious antics that helped lead the team to the Premier League.
