Breaking News: Blues set to land pick No.3 as Eagles pursue Baker

As part of a convoluted set of transactions that will also see Richmond’s Liam Baker join West Coast, CARLTON is probably going to receive a top-three pick in this year’s Telstra AFL Draft.

Late Monday night, Cal Twomey of AFL.com.au reported that the Blues are expected to exchange choice No. 3 for the Eagles’ picks No. 12 and 14.

In order to get Tiger Baker, a two-time Premiership winner, the Eagles will then on-trade pick 14 to Richmond; further picks will also be involved.

The deal is also anticipated to include uncontracted Carlton striker Matt Owies, who scored 33 goals this season but is unlikely to sign a new contract with the Blues. West Coast is showing some interest in the former category B rookie.

With midfielders Jagga Smith, Sam Lalor, Harvey Langford, and Finn O’Sullivan—the cousin of Carlton star Sam Walsh—among the talent available, the transaction will offer the Blues access to one of the greatest young players in the nation.

On the tenth day of Trade Desk Live, Riley Beveridge and Cal Twomey give the most recent trade and free agency news.

After a multi-club deal involving Dan Houston, Jack Lukosius, John Noble, and numerous first-round choices fell down on Monday night, leaving Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, and Collingwood to start over, the intricate transaction is almost finalised.

The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period has just two days left before it ends on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. AEDT.
