UPDATE: Barnsley FC boss provides update on two stars ahead of Blackpool trip

Barnsley head coach Darrell Clarke has confirmed that key midfielder and top scorer Adam Phillips has returned to training ahead of Saturday’s League One match against Blackpool. Phillips, who has scored five goals this season, missed the last two league games due to a toe injury.

However, midfielder Josh Benson will not feature at Bloomfield Road after suffering a hamstring injury in the recent EFL Trophy loss to Huddersfield Town. Clarke reassured that Benson’s injury is not serious, and he is expected to be sidelined for just a couple of weeks.

Barnsley head coach Darrell Clarke provided updates on key players ahead of the weekend. Regarding Phillips, Clarke said, “He’s back in training, which is great to see after a frustrating injury, and we’ll assess him as the weekend approaches.”

On Benson, Clarke added, “He’s only a couple of weeks out with a slight hamstring strain, so he should be back soon.”

Clarke also addressed the limited role of player-coach Conor Hourihane, emphasizing that he will only play during injury crises. Clarke explained, “Conor’s focus is now more on coaching, and he’s doing a great job. While fans may want to see him play, we’ve got a strong midfield and need to focus on getting the best out of those players.”
