Caitlin Clark Earns New Nickname Following Event with NBA Star
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is enjoying her first lengthy break from basketball in a while. After the Fever’s elimination from the WNBA playoffs on September 25, which concluded Clark’s remarkable rookie season, she is focusing on rest and recovery. While she mentioned to reporters that she plans to recharge and play some golf this offseason, she is also dedicated to improving her game.
“I’m a competitor and someone who loves to work, so it won’t be hard for me to want to get in the gym and get even better,” Clark stated shortly after the season wrapped up. As she finds a balance between training and enjoying her time off, Clark has made several public appearances, including a recent one at the Indiana Pacers’ Golden Gala event, where she interacted with All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers and Fever collaborated on an Instagram post featuring the two players, captioned “Indy’s point guards,” which has garnered over 66,000 likes and more than 300 comments. One fan suggested an apt nickname for Clark: “Point God & Point Goddess.”
This isn’t the first time Clark has been dubbed by this nickname. Many WNBA fans used the term “Point Goddess” in response to a post by San Antonio Spurs guard Chris Paul, who congratulated Clark on setting the single-season assist record.
Last season, both Clark and Haliburton excelled in playmaking, leading the league in assists per game. Haliburton has shown strong support for Clark and the Fever, even attending some of their games. While the “Point God” title is typically associated with Paul, who ranks third all-time in assists, Haliburton is recognized as one of the NBA’s top point guards. Together, Haliburton and Clark represent an impressive duo of playmaking talent in Indiana.
