Report: Chelsea have now made contact to sign rare £415,000 talent

Since Roman Abramovich was replaced by Todd Boehly, Chelsea has made a major effort to acquire top players from throughout the world.

The Blues have spent millions under the American to acquire players like Mike Penders, Aaron Anselmino, Kendry Paez, Estevao (who Enzo Maresca referred to as “fantastic”), and others before they might become well-known in a few years.

Following a difficult start under Boehly and four different managers—Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and Mauricio Pochettino—Chelsea now appears to be constructing something tangible under Enzo Maresca’s leadership.

Despite an impressive start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, the Blues are not satisfied yet when it comes to recruitment as Chelsea target Christantus Uche.

Chelsea enquire about Getafe wonderkid Christantus Uche

Chelsea has reportedly asked Getafe what it would take to sign Christantus Uche, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

Given his ability to play as a defensive midfielder and a striker, a rare combination of versatility rarely seen in football, the 6′ 3″ Nigerian is a special talent.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea has contacted Getafe to enquire about Uche because they believe the 21-year-old possesses the qualities required to succeed in the Premier League.

The Spanish news source simply mentions that Uche cost the Spanish team €500,000 (£415,000) when he moved from Ceuta back in the summer, without revealing how much Getafe values him.

Enzo Maresca needs a settled environment at Stamford Bridge

Even if Uche is an interesting possibility, Chelsea should take it easy on transfers.

The Chelsea Blues have recruited Omari Kellyman, whom Tottenham retreated from, Cesare Casadei, Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, and Deivid Washington to their roster of wonderkids since Boehly came.

To illustrate how strange the hiring process has been at times, Chelsea also signed Diego Moreira and Angelo Gabriel soon after Boehly took control, both of whom have now left permanently despite only making one appearance between them.

With so many young players still waiting to see what the future holds at Stamford Bridge, it would be insane to add another player to Maresca’s starting lineup, which is the best thing about Chelsea this season.
