When Derby County plays Hull City at home, they hope to build on their stellar start to the 2024–25 campaign in terms of their performance at Pride Park.
Paul Warne’s team will probably enter the match in a positive mood because the Rams have five points in their last three games, even though two of them were away from home.
The injuries sustained by Warne’s team, especially full-back Ryan Nyambe, who will be sidelined for a while, and midfield acquisition David Ozoh, who suffered yet another setback after his costly injury blow, will make Derby County’s next game challenging.
The Rams will continue to miss the Crystal Palace loanee a lot, and it should inspire one of their midfielders to get better.
Following Derby County star David Ozoh’s injury, Ben Osborn must step up.
Ozoh demonstrated genuine aggression and physical prowess in the heart of the field by consistently disrupting play, which greatly strengthened Warne’s midfield.
Particularly at Pride Park, he collaborated brilliantly with fellow midfielders Ebou Adams and Kenzo Goudmijn. His outstanding defensive skills also allowed the Dutchman to go a little bit further forward and give him more flexibility.
Ben Osborn must, however, step up to fill the void more than ever now that Ozoh’s absence has been prolonged. Although the former Sheffield United midfielder has appeared reasonably reliable and at ease in the middle of the park, he hasn’t been able to match the young midfielder’s performances.
Ben Osborn needs to work on a few things if he wants to mimic David Ozoh’s performances.
Osborn has unquestionably shown himself to be trustworthy and occasionally “tenacious” since joining, and the players will undoubtedly have benefited from his Premier League background.
He may still do better in a few areas, though, as he hasn’t quite lived up to the high standards established for a Rams midfielder by his teammates, particularly Goudmijn and Ozoh.
After recording a 75% passing accuracy each game, which was accumulated from a relatively low average of 18.5 passes per match, Osborn’s passing skill has not exactly been flawless, according to SofaScore.
He has only averaged two tackles and as little as 0.5 interceptions per game when it comes to defence.
Given that Ozoh averages 3.8 tackles per game, it is obvious that there is room for growth. If he can, the Crystal Palace loanee’s departure won’t be as sudden.
