BREAKING NEWS: Brian McDermott drops latest Reading FC takeover claim…

While takeover negotiations are still ongoing in the background, former Reading manager Brian McDermott praised Ruben Selles and emphasised his optimism for the team’s future. It’s no secret that the Royals have faced many hardships in recent years, with supporters attempting to evict club owner Dai Yongge through fervent protests. A period of exclusivity to purchase the club was granted to an unidentified bidder earlier this month, but despite the high level of interest, a deal has not yet been concluded.Brian McDermott sends a message to Reading FC Despite all of the distractions off the pitch, Reading has generally played well on the pitch; Selles’ team is now tenth in League One, one point outside of the play-off spots. That demonstrates Selles’ outstanding work, especially considering that he hasn’t been able to purchase a player in recent windows. Additionally, he gained the admiration of former Reading favourite McDermott, who shared his experience following a recent encounter with Selles on LinkedIn. I recently returned from the Reading Football Club’s practice pitch. It was wonderful to see some of the new employees I had never met before as well as some acquaintances I had known for years. “It’s safe to say that the club has had a rough few years. Seeing what I went through was really encouraging. The ambience surrounding the location was excellent. I want to express my gratitude to the players and staff for their kind greeting. The facilities left me speechless. the people, the game’s purpose, and the standards around the area.Ruben Selles

Ruben Selles is a real class act. As with all the top managers I have been in the company, he is a kind, respectful, interesting guy. The job him and his staff have done over a period of time, has been phenomenal. No excuses, no moaning, and he would have every reason to complain in the last few years.”

McDermott also offered a positive outlook for the future if the takeover situation could be resolved.

I really hope Ruben, the staff and players get a break. The right owner comes into the building . The potential is enormous. The football people here are just what the club needs. There is a sense that the Reading Football Club supporters have a real love for the manager and players.

Let’s hope the right people come in and take over the club. With the manager, staff , players , academy players coming through, there is so much that can be achieved.”

Tivonge Rushesha could have a genuine opportunity to shine for the Berkshire team in November due to a lack of squad depth.
Ruben Selles is a fantastic fit for Reading FC.

It’s good to hear this since Reading supporters still think highly of McDermott because of everything he achieved for the team, not only during his tenure as first team manager.

Everyone would concur with his evaluation of Selles as well, given that he has performed admirably for Reading under very trying conditions.

League One Table (as of 31/10/24)
Team P GD Pts

7 Huddersfield Town 13 7 22
8 Barnsley 13 3 22

As McDermott suggests, it’s all about changing owners going forward, so supporters will be hoping for some positive news on that front in the days and weeks ahead. That would mark the beginning of a bright, new era.
