Listen to Duran Duran’s spooky cover of ELO’s ‘Evil Woman’ for Halloween
Just in time for Halloween, Duran Duran released a creepy rendition of ELO’s “Evil Woman.” Take a look below.
Last year, the band released their Halloween-themed album, “Danse Macabre,” which included covers of Talking Heads and Billy Eilish, among other artists. The enhanced version, “Danse Macabre – De Luxe,” will be released digitally tomorrow (October 11) and on CD and vinyl box on October 25. Preordering or presaving is possible here.
One of the new additional tracks, a rendition of ELO’s 1975 hit from their album “Face the Music,” has been leaked ahead of the release.
With a haunted-disco vibe, a booming synth chorus, and hints of entrancing strings, Simon Le Bon and company arrive just in time to soundtrack the gloomy season. Take a look below.
Other new songs on the deluxe CD include “Masque of the Pink Death,” an instrumental, and “New Moon (Dark Phase),” an updated version of their iconic song “New Moon on Monday,” starring former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor.
“When we released our Danse Macabre project last year, it was born from a spontaneous decision to pull together a record which celebrated the madness and joy of Halloween,” keyboardist Nick Rhodes stated in a press release. We were able to record cover versions of some of our favourite songs, develop a number of new songs, and rethink some of our older songs as a result of opening an unexpected box of inspiration and inquiry.
“Somehow, the impulse persisted this year, and I adored the concept of growing the collection since we could Now that we had the luxury of a bit more time, why not include some of the songs that we first thought about?” he went on. “This idea led to the creation of a new song, a remake of ‘New Moon on Monday,’ and a cover of the ELO classic ‘Evil Woman.'”
The legendary band from the 1980s is set to start their Halloween US tour on October 21 with a performance in Allentown, Pennsylvania. View the complete schedule of dates here, and locate any tickets that are still available here.
Simon Le Bon, the band’s frontman, was one of the entertainers on this year’s King’s Birthday Honours list, according to other Duran Duran news earlier this year.

Only a few days after it was ultimately revealed that the model from the group’s “Rio” album cover was Marcia Hunt (now Marcie Dinkel), he was granted an MBE for Services to Music and Charity.
Duran Duran was interviewed by NME last year, and they discussed how excited they were to perform at the Gloucesterbury Festival. Surprisingly, the band has never performed at Worthy Farm’s massive festival, which returns this year from June 26 to 30.
“I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all,” frontman Simon Le Bon told NME.
We’ve had the opportunity to do it previously, but it didn’t involve performing on the main stage, and I believe we’d want to do that now. We are undoubtedly negotiating [with Glastonbury], or we will be.
