“Collingwood’s Secret Weapon? Cut Veteran Forward Signed is a twist– Fans Are Buzzing!”

Tim Membrey, a delisted free agent, has signed a two-year contract with Collingwood after being delisted from St Kilda.

Membrey joined his third club just weeks after leaving the Saints, and the Magpies made the announcement on the first day of three DFA windows.

The 30-year-old, who finished second on the Saints’ list for the metric this season after booting 30 goals in 2024, was Moorabbin’s top goalkicker three times.

Membrey barely missed the club’s top 10 all-time goal total with 293 goals from his 178 outings in the red, white, and black.

After being selected in the 2012 draft, Membrey began his career with Sydney. During his two seasons in NSW, he played one AFL game. After the Swans delisted him, he would transfer to St Kilda and return to Victoria.

In an effort to hone their offence from the 2025 campaign, Membrey has joined the Magpies. The seasoned shooter will be joining a forward group that includes Beau McCreery, Bobby Hill, Lachie Schultz, Dan McStay, and Brady Mihocek.

In a club release, Collingwood Head of Football Strategy, Innovation, and List Management Justin Leppitsch said, “We are happy to welcome Tim to Collingwood.”

After some time of conversation, we have determined that Tim is a crucial talent for the requirements on our list.

In addition to his football skills, Tim is a good person and a capable leader, both of which we know will enhance our program.

“When we return for pre-season training in November, we look forward to welcoming Tim, his wife Emily, and their kids Wren and Beau to our Club and acquainting them with our Collingwood family.”

After acquiring Daniel Houston (Port Adelaide) and Harry Perryman (GWS) through free agency and the trade period, respectively, the Magpies now have their third off-season addition in Membrey.

For the 2024 National Draft, which will be held on November 20–21, Collingwood has the selections 52, 55, and 58.
