Celtic man ‘likely’ to leave in January despite penning five-year contract

According to Football Insider, Celtic left-back Alexandro Bernabei is “likely” to go during the January transfer window. According to the source, the Hoops intend to sign a new defender because they have “no interest” in keeping him this winter.

The 24-year-old Bernabei is presently on loan at Internacional in Brazil. But when his contract expires at the end of the year, he is expected to return to Celtic Park.

Celtic must make a significant choice regarding his future. Although his contract with the Scottish Premiership champions expires in June 2027, he has lost ground.

In June 2022, the Hoops acquired the full-back to strengthen their defence. Since then, he has made 28 appearances across all competitions, including nine during the most recent campaign, and he has contributed one goal.

He progressed through the academy at Lanus before relocating to Scotland. Prior to playing 88 games for their first squad and scoring five goals, he was a consistent for them at several different juvenile levels.

Since his time at Celtic hasn’t gone as planned, he was allowed to rejoin Internacional in South America in order to play. Since then, he has participated in 17 games and scored twice.

“I’m very happy to be here and I feel grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity,” the former Argentina youth international remarked after joining his parent club a few years ago. Being able to play in Europe fulfils a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to train and play with my new teammates.

“The stadium is simply amazing. The coaching staff, teammates, the club, and the people themselves are all amazing. I’m thrilled and thrilled to be participating in the Champions League. I’ve heard that the crowd is insane, so I’m excited to experience that atmosphere at Celtic Park.

Bernabei was signed by Ange Postecoglou for Celtic. “I spoke to the manager and he said he believed in me and my quality and that I can adapt to the team quickly,” the player stated, expressing his excitement about working under the Australian.

I’ve never been to Scotland or Glasgow before, but I’ve seen the city online and it seems stunning, so I’m eager to learn more about it. The goal is to win a championship, and as a team, we want to accomplish great things. I hope we accomplish all of our goals this year.

The first Argentinean player to play for the Hoops was Bernabei. However, his future is now uncertain, and the club may decide to cut their losses on him.
