A year after joining Celtic from Club Brugge, Arne Engels arrived on the day of the summer transfer deadline after being signed by Brendan Rodgers’ team from FC Augsburg.
With three goals and six assists in 15 games this season, the midfielder has made an impression for Celtic. He made his Belgium debut in September thanks to his efforts.
Brendan Rodgers’ team will play Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday at Celtic Park.

When the Belgium international learnt that the two teams would be playing each other in the Champions League, he couldn’t contain his joy.
For the past two months, Wednesday, November 27th, has been on my calendar. Playing versus Club Brugge is something I’m quite excited about,” he remarked.

After defeating Slovan Bratislava 5-1 to begin the Champions League season, Celtic lost to Borussia Dortmund 7-1. Since then, they have defeated RB Leipzig 3-1 at home and drawn with Atalanta.
Engels discussed the loss with BVB prior to the match against the Jupiler Pro League team.
“Playing football versus Club Brugge excites me. They’re playing well, though, haha. We can say the same, though. The loss against Borussia Dortmund 7-1? An opportunity to learn… We displayed who we really were against RB Leipzig. We have a lot of power, especially at home. Against Club Brugge, it might be entertaining,” Engels said.
