Top scout announces ‘mythical’ Rangers move as Ben Davies handed grim transfer verdict

Philippe Clement has favoured John Souttar and Connor Goldson with Leon Balogun and Leon King also in reserve.

Rangers have a new employee who will assist in identifying new players, while not being a player himself.

Philippe Clement has expanded his scouting network at the club, with Anthony Galinksi joining as Lead International Scout from Royal Antwerp, Belgium. He announced his new position online, writing, “Excited and honoured to be a part of this mythical club as Lead International Scout.”

Barry Ferguson believes stopper Ben Davies has a bleak future in Glasgow, despite the new manager’s focus on discovering emerging talent. The Ibrox hero believes the core of the defence will be a priority this summer, with John Souttar and Connor Goldson the main options for the Belgian. Leon Balogun and Leon King are in reserve, while Davies has dropped down the stopper pecking order.

Balogun, who was out of contract in the summer, would be 36 if offered new terms. Goldson is also 32 at the end of this year. Fergie believes a fresh face in that region of the park will be on Clement’s summer wish list. In an interview with Go Radio, Ferguson stated that he prioritizes his team’s spine. I believe those are the areas of the pitch that Rangers will want to improve.

“Ben Davies appears to be out of the picture, certainly; Balogun is a year older, and Connor Goldson is what, 31 or 32? So I believe the manager would want to bolster the centre-back position.

Meanwhile, Clement provided an injury update on his team as the season approaches its final stretch. Ridvan Yilmaz will miss Dundee midweek, but his absence is now a matter of DAYS rather than LONG-TERM in a significant boost. However, Ryan Jack is one who requires a ‘long-term’ solution, which will be bad news for both the player and Scotland manager Steve Clarke as the Euros in Germany approach quickly.

Clement stated, “Ridvan is still missing, not long-term, but not suited for this game. It’s a matter of days, not weeks, for him. Ryan Jack, we’re looking into various ways to get him back; it’s a long-term calf issue, and I don’t want to risk re-injuring him – we’re looking at long-term options.”

Dens Park may be making the headlines once more, but Kieran Dowell is certain it will not upset the Rangers players and acknowledges it is all part of the game.

FOUR games have already fallen foul of the restrictions this season, with Motherwell only given the go-ahead at the weekend after passing two inspections on the day. The surface was still criticised before to the match, and while Dowell admits he has seen images of how they could line up, he is aware that it is the same for both teams.

He said, “I’ve seen a few photos. Obviously, the game we played in November was also postponed. It is identical for both teams.

When asked if playing on ‘poor’ pitches is a necessary part of being a footballer, he replied, “Exactly. You simply have to adapt to it. We’re all good players, and like you mentioned, we’ve played on many kinds of pitches, so we just have to accept it.”
