UPDATE: Rangers in new transfer link as £4m goalkeeper ‘wanted’ after previously attracting Celtic interest April 10, 2024 Tsetim Theophilus RANGERS FC 0 The Standard Liege shot-stopper recently earned his first international call-up to the Belgium squad. Rangers are monitoring the situation of Standard Liege goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart with a potential transfer in mind for the upcoming summer window, as per reports. Bodart, aged 26 and in the final year of his contract with the Belgian club, has been a regular fixture in goal since the 2019/20 season. However, he is reportedly considering a move for a new challenge, with Liege willing to consider a sale if contract negotiations don’t progress. Under the management of Philippe Clement and recruitment chief Nils Koppen, Rangers have revamped their scouting system, with Anthony Galinski recently appointed as the lead international scout. This restructuring has led Rangers to explore the Belgian Jupiler Pro League market for potential signings, with reports suggesting Bodart is a prime target for the Scottish club. If Liege fails to persuade Bodart to stay, it’s reported they would seek a fee in the region of €4 million (£3.4 million) for the goalkeeper, who recently received his first call-up to the Belgium national team squad. Although Rangers have not yet made an official offer, there’s anticipation that they may do so, particularly with concerns that their current first-choice goalkeeper, Jack Butland, could be tempted by a return to the Premier League this summer. Butland’s impressive performances have earned him consideration for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, and it’s expected that he may attract interest from English clubs when the transfer window reopens in June.
