Simon Jordan has continued his Rangers rant after a new update emerged surrounding the Dens Park situation with Dundee and he expended upon his criticism.
This comes after Jim White shared the news that the reason the Dens Park clash did not take place last midweek is because Dundee told the SPFL their pitch was not playable.
There had been suggestions that it was Rangers who didn’t want to play the fixture on that date due to the proximity to the Old Firm, but it now appears Dundee made the final call with the SPFL.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [12 April, 11:07], Jordan clarified: “What we said was that I don’t like the tone and texture of Rangers’ high-handed, pompous epistle to the world about what they think they’re entitled to say.
“I don’t think anybody thinks Dundee have done a good job. If you’re getting five games cancelled in a season, then you’re not doing something well. If you’ve got Dundee United across the road able to put on games and Dundee can’t, there’s something wrong.
“It’s the manner and the tone with which Rangers decided to address the subject that I think primarily got up my nose. I think it’s unnecessary for them to have said that. You aren’t the judgement of the SPFL. You and your fans aren’t beyond criticism.
“If the information of the time was that Rangers were the architects of not wanting to play the game last week and that information has now been amended, we will amend our information and fall on our swords.
“They don’t run the Scottish league, they’re a participant in it. We don’t need their opinion. Quite frankly, they’re probably right, but they’re not the judge, jury and executioner. It’s not so long ago they were booted out of the league.
“It’s not Rangers’ job to tell them. The condemnation should be coming from the governing body, not from the self-appointed governing body of Rangers and Celtic.”

Despite the suggestions that it was the Ibrox side delaying the fixture, and criticism from the likes of Jordan for that perceived call, the state of the pitch at Dens Park should remain the point of contention here.
The broadcaster’s concession that, given the new update, his observation about Rangers being unwilling to play a different time was wrong, is fair, but his continued criticism of the Ibrox club rather than Dundee is a strange angle to take.
Ultimately, Rangers are the affected club in this situation and have every right to speak out about it. The repeatedly postponed fixture could even have a direct impact on the title race as it will allow Celtic to maintain their gap at the top.
This in turn could prove a psychological disadvantage for Clement’s team – although they have shown no concern when chasing previously – as they will now be the chasers rather than the leaders, at least until equal games have been played.
