Brendan Rodgers understands that, in addition to preparing for the next six games of the season, he must also consider improving Celtic in the coming summer.
The Celtic win was not as easy as the manager had hoped, requiring extra time and penalties to defeat Peter Leven’s side.
Rodgers praised Celtic-linked Bojan Miovski in his post-match interview, stating that he was thrilled to reach the final.
Rodgers really likes Miovski.
Miovski, a’really talented’ midfielder, has been a standout for Aberdeen despite their problems in the Scottish Premiership.
Rodgers hailed the forward for causing difficulties for Celtic on Saturday, after being linked to him earlier this season.
In a conversation with Charlie Mulgrew, Rodgers admitted that his squad let Aberdeen’s striker too much freedom in the first 45 minutes of the game.
Rodgers told the BBC, “I believe we were not tight enough in our positioning, and as I have stated, they were quite brilliant in midfield and collaborated really well to get through.
“Their striker is a good player. So, yes, there was just too much space.
“We were away on the attack before we’ve even secured the ball and they scored a very good goal so you have to give them credit for that.”
Although there is ongoing dispute among Celtic fans over Miovski’s ability to play for Celtic, the Aberdeen striker is known for his goal-scoring ability.
Miovski has 24 goals this season including three versus Celtic, despite losing six of seven. [Transfermarkt]
And, given how many opportunities Celtic create in each game, imagine the damage he could do in the green and white hoops if given the opportunity.
