Carlton Palmer has shared his thoughts to FLW about Ipswich Town being interested in signing Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison.
Former England midfielder Carlton Palmer believes recently relegated Sheffield United would be gutted to lose Daniel Jebbison if he were to join Ipswich Town.
Ipswich Town are interested in signing Sheffield United’s Daniel Jebbison
Jebbison has been with Bramall Lane for a few years now, working his way up the academy ranks after moving from Canada to finally play for the main squad.
The forward was promoted to the senior squad in 2021, when he signed a professional deal with the club only a few days after scoring his first Premier League goal against Everton; the contract is currently slated to expire at the end of June.
That means Jebbison will depart the club at the end of June, and Ipswich Town are reportedly confident in securing him.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Tractor Boys have set their sights on the England youth international striker and want to sign him, whether they achieve promotion to the Premier League or not.
The report adds that the Tractor Boys are confident they will finalise terms for Jebbison, but he wouldn’t be a free transfer, as he is at the age where compensation would need to be agreed.
Carlton Palmer: Sheffield United will be gutted to lose Daniel Jebbison
Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer was asked by FLW about his opinion on Ipswich Town’s interest in Sheffield United’s Jebbison and if he thinks it’s a good move for the Tractor Boys.
Palmer feels that the Blades and Chris Wilder would be devastated to lose Daniel Jebbison, but if Wilder remains manager, he may try to persuade the player to stay – especially given the club’s dearth of striker options for next season.
Palmer confirmed to Football League World that Ipswich Town are interested in Sheffield United player Daniel Jebbison.
“Sheffield United would be devastated to lose him. Well, he won’t be leaving for free; if signed, the 20-year-old will be compensated. If the two clubs cannot agree on a fee, a tribunal will make the decision.
“Daniel, we’d like to play regular first-team football, and I believe it all depends on what happens at Sheffield United.”
“Is the management planning to stay? Will Chris Wilder remain on? If Chris Wilder is going to stay, he’s going to have to look at employing some of these young players, so if you’ve got a player like this, and he can guarantee him more first-team football, I’m confident he’ll sign again.
“But, sadly, for Sheffield United at this time, he is available and will be compensated, but he will undoubtedly be able to negotiate a larger contract.
“Because of his height and physicality, he is a true mobile player who can run channels and play at the top level on his own.
“Hopefully, Chris Wilder will sit down with him and convince him that he has a future playing for the football club.
“If he moves to Ipswich Town, who are currently favourites to win the Premier League, he will not get first-team action.
“So that’s where the trouble arises. As a young player at 20, his next move is critical because he needs to play football, whether it’s re-signing with Sheffield United and going out on loan, or signing for Ipswich Town, where he will almost certainly be farmed out.
“But it will be frustrating for Sheffield United to lose a player on compensation when they might have renegotiated his contract and signed him. Either way, it didn’t matter if they signed him; you simply protect yourself by having him sign a longer deal.”
Sheffield United’s Daniel Jebbison has a big decision to make this summer
Carlton Palmer is correct; Daniel Jebbison may find himself in a difficult situation regardless of whether he stays at Sheffield United or moves to Ipswich Town.
However, this season’s troubles are not entirely his fault, as Chris Wilder has been unable to select him since his return to Bramall Lane owing to injuries and illness.
If Jebbison chooses to join Ipswich, he may not receive the desired playing time due to the club’s existing options in that part of the pitch. Additionally, if the club is promoted to the Premier League, they may reinvest.
So, whatever Jebbison decides to do this summer, he must make the correct decision in terms of where he has the best opportunity of playing football. While the Blades will hope there is still enough time to persuade him to stay at Bramall Lane.
