The Nasinu football squad has won the last spot that is open for participation in the Digicel Fiji FACT.
With their 2-1 victory over the hosts Nadroga, the team overcame a 1-0 deficit and eliminated Suva and Tailevu Naitasiri from the FACT.
The outcome implies that Maikah Dau, a young soccer sensation from Fiji under Tagi Vonolagi’s coaching, will participate in his first senior national competition.
Taniela Raubula gave Nadroga the early lead.
Don Kana, an outstanding player from Solomon Islands, gave Vonolagi’s team a lead in the second half before Ryan Chandra sealed the victory.
Nasinu has only recently started to play well again, and their recent 3-1 victory over Navua, along with their most recent victory, will only help them gain momentum.
While Tailevu Naitasiri defeated Nadi 2-1, Suva’s dismal start to the season prevents them from participating in the FACT for the first time ever.
In other matches, Rewa defeated Ba 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Samuela Kautoga.
Iosefo Verevou’s penalty gave the losing team, which departs for the OFC Champions League tomorrow, a 1-0 lead.
Kautoga scored first, and Ba’s equalizer came from Darold Kakasi.
Labasa defeated Navua 3-2 as well.
