Seamus Coleman has acknowledged that he is thinking about accepting Everton’s new contract offer.

The captain of the team is one of numerous Everton players whose contracts are up in the summer, but it has long been expected that he will leave on his own terms.

This is true once more, as the defender states that his reasoning will be tested against the understanding that “leaving something you love is difficult.”

Coleman has stated that when he was in the same situation a year ago, he gave signing an extension a lot of thought. He was still recovering from a major knee injury he had sustained in the draw against Leicester City. He consented to extend his stay for a fifteenth year and recovered from that injury to return to action this season.

He guided Everton into the victory over Sheffield United at home on Saturday, and he also led the lap of honour as he returned to Goodison Park. That did not seem to be a farewell, and the ECHO had earlier revealed that negotiations were still in progress between Coleman and the team.

The 35-year-old acknowledged that he is considering a new contract by saying, “The club means everything to me.” I guess I’m just one of us; I live and breathe it. The past two or three years have been an incredible journey, and you can’t just show up for work, go home, and forget about it.

It’s difficult because you have to live and breathe it. However, I adore this stadium and this football team. We still have one year left at Goodison, so I’m grateful for the offer and will give it some thought. I have a deep emotional connection to this football team, and I have mentioned previously that it is difficult to leave something you love behind when signing a contract.
