According to Opta Analyst, Arsenal has a 61.8 percent chance of defeating Everton on the last day of the Premier League season, but only a 16.3 percent chance of taking home the championship.
With only a 14.3% chance of winning at Emirates Stadium and a 23.9% possibility of a tie, Opta’s supercomputer does not give Everton a very good chance of winning.
But with a 75.1% chance of Manchester City defeating West Ham United, it appears that the Premier League trophy will undoubtedly be decorated in light blue for a record-breaking fourth season.
Everton’s chances of finishing the season strong are slim.
Given the Toffees’ extremely slim chance of winning, the stats are difficult for Everton supporters to understand.
The decision makes some sense considering that Sean Dyche’s team has nothing to lose and avoided relegation with relative ease in the end. The Toffees enter the final day of play 14 points ahead of Luton Town, who are in 18th place, despite being docked eight points for two violations of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
While Arsenal has the opportunity to win a Premier League title for the first time in 20 years—since their renowned ‘Invincibles’ season of 2003–04—if they defeat Everton and City loses to West Ham, they will be as driven as any team.
