Bryan King believes Dele Alli does not have a future at Everton. The former Everton scout was unhappy by the 28-year-old’s absence at Goodison Park, where the players embraced fans after their season-ending 1-0 victory over Sheffield United (11 May).
Everton stated on Friday (17 May) via their official website that Alli would continue his recovery with the club, despite the fact that his contract expires next month. Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King believes the midfielder must regain his enthusiasm for the game. “Alli does not have a future with Everton,” King stated.
The first thing that he needs to do is start playing football again, if he wants to that is.
He has made an awful lot of money, he is quite financially secure and he needs to rediscover that hunger for football again.
Otherwise, he will go down as another marvellous talent who has gone to waste.
Everton gave him a chance and he didn’t take it, but the least he could have done was shown up and clapped the supporters, that was a poor showing from him.”
Dele Alli is unlikely to be offered a new contract by Everton
Most supporters probably didn’t even notice Alli’s absence following their victory over the Blades.
While he could have at least shown up and offered some acknowledgement to the fans, it isn’t as if there is much of a relationship there anyway.
It is a classy gesture for the Toffees to allow Alli to continue his recovery at the club, but it is unlikely to lead to anything more.
Everton Alli would have to accept a huge wage cut if he was to sign a new contract at Goodison Park, and even then, the club would likely be skeptical. In other Everton news, the club is looking to recruit a £15.7million international winger.
