Celtic and the potential Fraser Forster transfer option that is there in front of them
After Joe Hart hangs up his cleats following Saturday’s Scottish Cup final, Celtic will be searching for a new goalkeeper this summer.
On the penultimate day of the season, Rangers will be present at Hampden, where the Englishman will bid a fond farewell to Parkhead after three years of service.
Given Hart’s leadership abilities, background, and voracious trophy desire, Brendan Rodgers will have a difficult time selecting a worthy Hart replacement.
But all good things come to an end, and as one door closes, another will open, giving his successor the opportunity to take over in the east end of Glasgow.
A number of players, including Scotland international Liam Kelly, Southampton stopper Alex McCarthy, and Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor, have been identified as possible targets; yet, another well-known figure among Celtic supporters is purportedly up for sale this summer.
Reporter asserts Tottenham Hotspur is trying to sell Fraser Forster.
Journalist Paul O’Keefe claims that Ange Postecoglou may list Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Fraser Forster for sale this summer as part of a fire sale in North London.
With just one year remaining on his contract, the 36-year-old Spurs player has only made one appearance this season, away at Fulham in the EFL Cup second round [Transfermarkt].
Naturally, Forster’s most well-known memory is from his time spent playing for Celtic, just north of the border, when he became a household name thanks to his heroics in goal, amassing 118 clean sheets in 234 games for the Bhoys.
He gained the nickname La Gran Muralla (The Great Wall) at Parkhead for his heroics against teams like Barcelona in the Champions League.
Along with his 1256 minutes in the Scottish Premiership without giving up a goal—still a record—he also put on a remarkable one-man show against Rangers in the 2019 Scottish League Cup final.
