Rangers goalie Liam Kelly of Motherwell is expected to make an unexpected comeback. The 28-year-old Scotland squad goalkeeper joined Livingston in 2018 and moved to Fir Park three years later. He came through the development levels at Ibrox and played for the first team for three years.
Right now According to The Scottish Sun, Kelly has consented to return to the Light Blues as part of Philippe Clement’s massive summer makeover. Kelly is expected to be named in Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 team. Despite Record Sport’s doubts, Kelly has one Scotland cap under his belt and was supposedly catching the eye of Scottish Premiership winners Celtic, who are also searching for keepers. Since Robby McCrorie may seek more playing time if he doesn’t win the gloves and Jon McLaughlin appears poised to make an Ibrox exit, Rangers No. 1 Jack Butland may be the target of summer bids this season.
Stuart Kettlewell, the manager of Motherwell, acknowledged that the out-of-contract goalie would probably draw approving looks. “I wouldn’t be surprised if a goalie of his caliber attracted interest,” he stated.
I would really like to keep Liam at the club, but there are a lot of considerations that go into it. Hopefully, he will have a busy summer as well; we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
