We are delighted to have received the EFL’s Gold Family Excellence Award in recognition of our work engaging with and making our Club open and welcome to all families on match day!
An effort and attitude that is led by our Supporter Services department, this gold award not only reflects their incredible year-round work (with scores comprised from two separate surprise visits across the season) but the approach of the Club as a whole toward families and supporters of all ages.
Having ranked seventh of 72 EFL sides last season, we were overjoyed to finish second in this season’s standings, underlining our desire for constant improvement and growth in all areas. With an overall score of 9/10 (compared to an EFL average 7.7/10) and only scoring a low of eight in one of the 12 categories judged, we are proud to have seen our efforts acknowledged and take comfort in knowing that families looking to support Huddersfield Town have the ability to.
Within the final report submitted to the Club, the EFL assessors said that Huddersfield Town had a ‘culture of family engagement’, further noting:
“This season’s two EFL Family Excellence assessments visits once more place Town among the leaders in family experience specifically because – as both visits clearly evidence – the Club has developed a culture of engagement which shines through in every interaction and improves on last season’s fantastic effort.”
Judged on our website and first impressions, purchasing tickets, social media, travel, facilities, outside the stadium, retail and merchandise, refreshments, inside the stadium, people, post game and whether or not supporters feel valued, the scores received in each area reflects well across all departments of the Club whilst providing us areas in which we will once again look to improve in the season ahead.
Head of Supporter Experience Robyn Kennerdale commented:
“None of the work we do for families and supporters of all ages is with the intention of receiving awards, but when you are recognised in this way, it does give validation to the commitment and effort being made across the Club in all areas.
“From our Fan Zone, Community Hub, Family Stand, Terrier the Terrier, Match Day Activities, Terrier Kidz Box, First Time Terriers, free fruit initiative and so much more, we have invested and made steps forward in a variety of areas, all in the hope of giving Town fans the best possible match day experience.
“Huddersfield Town is a family Club and we wear that badge with honour. We constantly talk about our desire that anyone should feel able to be a Terrier, and that of course includes families and supporters of all ages. To finish second in the entire EFL speaks volumes, as does our appetite to have built on last season’s seventh placed finish.
“Our staff within Supporter Services and beyond should be extremely proud of this award, and just as we did last season, we will take all recommendations to heart and look to ensure the experience of each and every supporter at the John Smith’s Stadium is even better next season.”
