Mallik Wilks, a forward for Barnsley and former Leeds United player, is reportedly being pursued by Charlton Athletic and Reading from Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilks, a graduate of Leeds Academy, was promoted from League One with Hull City and Wednesday. While still on the Leeds roster, he also had a fantastic loan experience at the division’s Doncaster Rovers.
In 2019, Wilks moved to South Yorkshire in order to connect with Barnsley, leaving Elland Road behind. Halfway through his rookie season, he left Oakwell to accept a temporary contract with Hull before joining the Tigers permanently.
In order to increase their chances of making it out of the third tier, Wednesday came calling in 2022 and added Wilks to their ranks. He only made one league start for the Owls in their Championship-era struggle to avoid relegation last season.

In his two seasons at Hillsborough, the 25-year-old has only scored three goals and has been a minor man for the Owls in the Championship. Stockport County, Reading, and Charlton are reportedly vying for his signature, according to Football Insider.
According to reports, the aforementioned three are considering whether to sign Wilks long-term or on loan. With Wilks’s history in the third division, it is understandable why League One teams would want to sign him.
