Collingwood coach Craig McRae has minimized worries regarding 2023 Norm Smith Medalist Bobby Hill, who sustained an ankle injury during Thursday’s training session.
This adds to the concerns about the increasing number of injuries for the Pies, whose list of injured players already includes 13 names, not counting Hill.
Jordan De Goey remains out, along with veterans Scott Pendlebury, Jamie Elliott, and Brody Mihocek.
“He’s okay; he just had a minor ankle tweak,” McRae said on Thursday.

“We have four days until our game, so there’s no concern,” said the team. Hill hasn’t undergone any scans, and there’s optimism that he’ll be fit to play against Melbourne in their King’s Birthday match on Monday.
Coach McRae also dismissed any worries about goal scorer Jamie Elliott’s recovery timeline from a vascular issue.
There were initial fears earlier in the week that Elliott might be out for the rest of the 2024 season. However, McRae has provided good news, stating that the goal is for Elliott to return in time for the finals.
“There was some uncertainty regarding Jamie’s injury, and we had to work through that, but we received positive news this week that his treatment has been effective,” McRae said.
Even better, Elliott was seen running on Thursday as he works to regain his fitness.

“He’s recovering well and has just completed his first running session,” McRae said.
“We’re hopeful that he’ll be back in six to eight weeks.”
Both the Pies and the Demons are coming off disappointing losses in round 12, and are currently positioned ninth and tenth on the ladder, respectively.
