The most recent rumors and information regarding transfers involving Brighton & Hove Albion and other Premier League teams
Adam Lallana, a former midfielder for Brighton and Liverpool, has rejoined Southampton on a one-year deal after the team was promoted to the Premier League.
After his contract at Brighton expired, Lallana—who appeared in over 250 games for Saints between 2006 and 2014—returns to St Mary’s for a second stint.
The 36-year-old led the team as captain prior to his 2014 transfer to Liverpool. “I’m overjoyed to return to the place where it all began,” the former England international stated on the team’s website.
“Even though it sounds a little bit like a fairytale, I really believe I still have a lot to offer this football team, and there is work to be done.”
“I knew right away that it was something I needed to pursue, and in the end, it worked out when I started speaking with Russell (Martin) and realized there was a little bit of interest.”
Lallana is the first summer addition made by boss Martin, following Southampton’s promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last month.
“I’m thrilled that we could bring Adam back home to where it all began for him,” Martin continued. Adam offers essential expertise as we get ready for the Premier League and has the DNA of this club in him.
“This coming season, we’re going to need everyone to contribute, and Adam helps us develop real depth and know-how in midfield.”
